How often do clients require infusion treatments?
Treatment frequency varies based on each client's unique health needs. Some clients benefit from weekly sessions, while others may schedule treatments monthly, quarterly, or even biannually. Our medical team will help determine an optimal treatment plan tailored to your specific wellness goals and medical situation.
Depending on location and time, do you accept emergency bookings?
Yes! Our nurses are on-call 12 hours daily to accommodate urgent needs. If your location is within a one-hour drive radius, we can typically provide same-day service. For locations beyond this range, we'll offer the next available appointment time. Our goal is to provide prompt service when you need it most, though availability may vary based on demand and staff scheduling.
Are clients required to state on the form the purpose of treatment, or is that protected information?
Once your appointment is scheduled, we do collect certain protected health information that is essential for safe treatment, including diagnoses, current medications, pregnancy status, age, and weight. This information allows our nurses to customize your treatment safely and effectively. Rest assured that all medical information collected is kept strictly confidential in accordance with privacy regulations.
Is there a limit to the number of treatments within a given period?
Yes, there are recommended limits that vary based on individual factors. Generally, up to 1 liter of fluid daily for 3 consecutive days (3 liters in 36 hours) would be the maximum for most clients. In some cases, we can administer up to 2 liters in a single session. However, these guidelines are adjusted based on your weight, current health status, and medical history. For clients under certain weight thresholds, we may recommend reduced volumes (500-800ml). Our nurses make professional assessments to ensure all treatments are safe and appropriate for your specific situation.
Do infusions disrupt or have any impact on medications?
Yes, certain medications can be contraindicated with IV therapy components. This is precisely why we conduct a thorough medication review during our intake process. Our nursing team carefully evaluates potential interactions to ensure your safety. If specific medications you're taking might interact with planned treatments, our staff will discuss alternative options that would be more appropriate for your situation.
Can any ingredient use cause allergic reactions?
Yes, allergic reactions are possible with certain vitamin components, which is why we thoroughly review your allergy history during our medical intake process. Individual responses to vitamins and minerals can vary significantly—what causes no reaction in one person may trigger sensitivity in another. By documenting your known allergies and previous reactions, we can customize your treatment to minimize any risk. Our nurses are trained to monitor for and respond to any signs of allergic response during your session.
What kind of preparation are the clients asked to take before a session is started?
There's minimal preparation required for your IV session. We simply recommend wearing short-sleeved clothing for easy access to your arm. Treatment typically takes place in your living room where you can relax comfortably during the infusion. For clients experiencing migraines or food poisoning who may be unable to leave their bed, our nurses can administer treatment in your bedroom. Our mobile service is designed to be as convenient and comfortable as possible, requiring little to no preparation on your part.
Is there any pain associated with any infusion?
You'll experience a brief moment of discomfort during the initial needle insertion—similar to a quick pinch that subsides once the cannula is properly placed. After this momentary sensation, the infusion process itself should be painless. Occasionally, an IV may "infiltrate" (when fluid leaks into surrounding tissue), which might cause discomfort and require reinsertion. Our experienced nurses use techniques to minimize any discomfort and ensure the most comfortable experience possible throughout your treatment.
What are the most common areas for IV, and what if there's any difficulty infusing?
The most common placement sites are the back of the hand and the antecubital area (inner elbow), where veins are typically most accessible. If we encounter difficulties with the initial IV placement or if an infiltration occurs (when the IV needs to be restarted), our skilled nurses will attempt alternative sites. We generally limit attempts to 3-4 per session to ensure your comfort while still providing effective treatment. Our nurses are experienced in handling challenging vein access and will work with you to find the best solution.
What are some factors that may prevent an infusion from being done?
Several factors may contraindicate IV therapy, including certain medications you're currently taking and specific medical conditions such as congestive heart failure (CHF), bilateral lower extremity edema (BLE), or certain blood disorders. During our comprehensive pre-treatment assessment, our nurses evaluate these factors to determine if IV therapy is appropriate and safe for your specific situation. Your safety is our highest priority, and in some cases, we may recommend alternative treatments better suited to your health status.
What side effects should a client look out for, if any?
Side effects, while rare, typically manifest within the first 15 minutes of treatment if they're going to occur at all—similar to the monitoring period for blood transfusions. Our nurses vigilantly monitor you during this critical window. If no adverse reactions occur during the infusion itself, it's highly unlikely you'll experience any side effects afterward. This is why our nurses remain with you throughout the entire treatment process, ensuring immediate response to any unexpected reactions.
Is there a limit to physical activities after a session?
For 99% of our treatments, you can immediately return to your normal activities following your session. The exception is primarily for clients receiving magnesium infusions for migraines, which may leave you feeling relaxed and drowsy. In these specific cases, we recommend resting afterward to allow the treatment to work most effectively. For all other treatments, there are no activity restrictions, allowing you to seamlessly incorporate IV therapy into your busy lifestyle.
Have you ever had to stop in the middle of a session due to any reactions?
Yes, though extremely rare, we have had instances where infusions needed to be discontinued due to reactions such as increased heart rate or itching, indicating a potential allergic response to a specific vitamin component. In such cases, our nurses immediately stop the infusion, monitor your vital signs, and report the incident to our clinical team and medical director. These episodes are thoroughly documented, and any identified allergens are permanently recorded in your medical profile to prevent future exposure. Your safety is our paramount concern, and our nurses are fully trained to respond appropriately to any adverse reactions.
Are infusions covered by insurance, or can it be out of pocket?
While certain specialized infusions (such as medication infusions or IVIG treatments) may be covered by insurance, our standard hydration and vitamin infusions typically are not covered and are considered out-of-pocket expenses. Our pricing is structured to be comparable to copayments you might incur at an urgent care facility. For your convenience, we do accept HSA and FSA payment cards, providing a flexible payment option that may help offset costs through your healthcare benefits program.
